Free Forensic Investigator Course Proves Popular

The acclaimed Scottish crime writer Val McDermid has had more than ten thousand people sign up for her free online course entitled `Identifying The Dead: forensic science and human identification.’
The University of Dundee launched the online forensic investigator course via it’s Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification.
Ms McDermid has written a story to coincide with the six week course which begins with the discovery of a body in Dundee. It then details how evidence is collected and examines local video footage. With scenes being filmed now prior to the start of the course in September.
The massive interest in the course is possibly due to popularity of CSI and similar television crime dramas.
Free registration for this online course is currently available at futurelearn with the course beginning next month (September). Students also have the option to sit an exam at the end. Val McDermid’s story will be available for download after the course finishes.
